The short version: ChuckleChest is a free, open-source app run by one person. Your memories belong to you — we only store them to provide the service. Don't use the app for anything illegal or harmful. We provide the service as-is with no guarantees.
1. Agreement to Terms
By using ChuckleChest ("we," "us," "our"), including the website (chucklechest.app) and the web app, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use our services.
ChuckleChest is an independent, open-source project maintained by an individual developer, not a business.
2. Who Can Use ChuckleChest
You must be at least 16 years old to use ChuckleChest. If you are under 18, you must have permission from a parent or legal guardian. By using the service, you confirm that you meet these requirements.
3. Your Responsibilities
- Provide accurate information and keep your account details up to date.
- Keep your login credentials secure. You are responsible for activity on your account.
- Do not use ChuckleChest for any unlawful or harmful purpose.
- Do not share content that infringes on others' rights, or that is abusive, harassing, or illegal.
4. Your Content
You retain full ownership of everything you create in ChuckleChest — your gems, family member profiles, and uploaded photos are yours.
By using the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive licence solely to store, process, and display your content to you and the people you have explicitly authorised (e.g. chest members, gem share link recipients). We do not use your content for any other purpose.
You are responsible for ensuring your content does not violate any laws or infringe on the rights of others.
5. Intellectual Property
The ChuckleChest source code is open source and available on GitHub under its respective licence. You are welcome to read, fork, and contribute to it in accordance with that licence.
The ChuckleChest name, logo, and branding belong to Jacob Drew and may not be used without permission.
6. Prohibited Activities
You may not:
- Use ChuckleChest for harassment, hate speech, or any illegal purpose.
- Attempt to gain unauthorised access to, disrupt, or interfere with the service or its infrastructure.
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your affiliation with any individual or organisation.
7. Privacy
Your privacy matters. Please review our Privacy Policy for full details of what data we collect and how we use it.
8. Service Changes and Termination
As a free, independently maintained project, we may update, pause, or discontinue the service at any time. We will make reasonable efforts to notify users of significant changes in advance.
We reserve the right to suspend or terminate access to accounts that violate these terms. If your account is terminated, you may request a copy of your data before deletion. See the Privacy Policy for details on data retention.
9. Disclaimer and Liability
ChuckleChest is provided "as is", free of charge, by an individual developer with no commercial backing. We make no guarantees of uptime, data preservation, or fitness for a particular purpose.
To the maximum extent permitted by applicable law, we are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the service.
10. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Germany. Any disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the competent courts of Germany. If you are an EU consumer, you retain any statutory rights granted to you under the law of your country of residence.
